Do Nigerians Need Visa For Tanzania?

Yes. You still need visa, but e don easy.

On 25 September 2026, Tanzania Immigration remove Nigeria from Referred Visa Category. Before that time, Nigerians need extra special clearance from Immigration boss, e dey take like 2 months, many people dey get reject.

Now, you fit follow normal process like everybody else.

Wetin you need:

- Ordinary Visa — $50 (about ₦75,000)

- Valid for up to 90 days, single entry

- Apply for e-Visa online for visa.immigration.go.tz before you fly — processing na about 10 days. No use agent website wey dey charge $150.

Abeg, no rely on visa on arrival.

I know some blogs dey write "you fit get visa on arrival for Zanzibar." No follow am.

Removal from Referred list no mean say VOA don automatic for Nigerians. Tanzania Immigration still dey talk say apply online and wait for your Visa Grant Notice before you fly. If you go Lagos airport without visa, airline fit deny you boarding.

So: Apply online, wait for approval, print am, then book flight. That na the safe route.

The $44 Insurance Wey Everybody Dey Miss

Tanzania don make inbound travel insurance mandatory.

- If you land for Zanzibar first, buy from Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) for inbound.visitzanzibar.go.tz

- If you land for mainland first (Dar es Salaam / Kilimanjaro), buy from National Insurance Corporation (NIC) for inbound.nicinsurance.co.tz

- Cost na $44 per adult (about ₦66,000), $22 for pikin 3-17 years, free for under 3

- Valid for 92 days, multiple entry

- One policy na enough for whole trip — if you buy ZIC for Zanzibar, e go cover you for mainland too, no need buy two. Na first entry go decide which one you buy.

- Your Nigerian travel insurance no go count — dem go still ask for Tanzania own.

If you no get am, dem fit deny you entry. Buy am before you fly, e go give you QR code for email.

Health Form Wey You Must Fill — No Skip Am

Since 17 October 2026, Tanzania don add health form because of Ebola for DRC.

E get two different forms, no mix am:

1. If you land for mainland first (Dar es Salaam / Kilimanjaro):

Fill Traveller's Health Surveillance Form for afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz. E free, fill am within 24 hours before travel, keep the QR code for health officers for airport.

2. If you land for Zanzibar direct:

Zanzibar get im own form for healthtravelznz.mohz.go.tz. E mainly for people wey dey come from or pass through DRC, Uganda or Kenya, but Zanzibar portal dey talk say all arrivals must fill am. So fill am too, no assume mainland form go cover am.

If you land mainland first, you no need fill again when you go Zanzibar.

Wetin Else You Need?

1.  International Passport — Valid for at least 6 months, with at least 1 blank page

2.  Yellow Fever Card — Rule na if you dey come from or transit more than 12 hours for yellow fever country. Nigeria qualify, so carry am. Vaccine must be at least 10 days before travel.

3.  Return Ticket — Dem wan see say you go come back

4.  Hotel Booking — For Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam

How Much Zanzibar Trip Go Cost?

Real breakdown for 5 days for Zanzibar:
